Shopping in Ireland - Cork & Kerry
![]() |
As with any holiday, one normally brings home gifts and souveniers. So what do you bring home from Ireland? First considerations are going to be your baggage allowance and how fragile the item might be. For some items (Waterford Crystal, Baleek pottery, quilts and similar) it is best to purchase something managable and make sure you take home a catalog so you obtain the larger items later. Aran jumpers and cardigans are very popular, but make sure that they are "Hand Made in Ireland". Pure Aran will feel slightly coarse and not soft like a department store wool sweater. There are 1000's of craft shops all over the country (many will only have a sign post at the side of the road). The choice of goods they produce is vast and most beautifully handmade. Even if you cannot take some of these crafts home make sure you at least get a business card so you can contact them later. Enjoy your shopping.
