County Laois / Co. Laois
County Laois offers the traveller quiet country roads, many different varieties of flora and fauna; and it is the perfect haven for the pedestrian, the cyclist, the botanist and the fishermen.
Portlaoise (the fort of Laoighis) is the county town which was fortified by the British. At the Rock of Dunamase is a magnificent ruined castle, and again there are many places to wander and many guest-houses to welcome you.
